Hostelworld: Hostel Travel App App Reviews

First, “subscribe me to special offers” checkbox on their website when you book. This is a “dark pattern”. Not what I expected from a credible service. Second, while using the app, after I entered all my details, “enter password” dialog appears. I do not know my password and there is no link to restore it or something. So all my entered data progress is lost and I cannot make a booking. Have to use rivaling app which does nit demand my “password” on the last step of registration.

All is good.

Its not possible to leave hostel reviews. Solve this lack and the app would become good!

Good with room for improvement, like possibility to use cached data offline.

I dont know why there is no app improvement. it has been more than a year and still almost the same. pros: - each hostel has ratings for each feature (location, atmosphere, value for price, etc) - almost all hostels are found on this App. Cons: - non refundable fees (I prefer booking somewhere else ) - reviews are not organized, it would be very helpful to to see (pros & cons lists or ratings for each feature in each review) - it would be great to let the reviewer upload photos for their review ( hostels can put misleading photos) -The app is slow , (booking.com is really fast compared to this) - wish list is terrible, i keep adding hostels to one category but I dont find them listed

On the positive side this app has a lot of hostels to choose from. However it lacks on the practical side. There is no help feature to assist in how to use the app nor is there any place to enter a reservation confirmation number for reservations made prior to downloading the app.

This app would be awesome if it didnt crash all of the time. I have been traveling South America for about 3 months and have tried to use this app a lot. It freezes and crashes 9 times out of 10. Theyve had 3 updates since it been using it and it still crashes.

The company seems to allow just about any company to be on their app. I have been cheated already, a few hostels in, but theres nothing Hostelworld can or will do. Ive also had fantastic experiences for places I wouldve paid 3x more for. Take reviews on hostels with a grain of salt. Many reviewers post positive responses because they had a good time in that area, not necessarily due to the quality of the hostel, this is substantially confirmed. Not to be prejudice, but its true; look at reviews from those who are 25+ at least before you book. 1 star because of company and security of what they provide, the app works well. Its a crapshoot.

So easy to book and cancel hostels all over the world!!!

Overall I am pleased with the app. The flow and access and layout is nice. The only reason Im giving it three stars is because the wish list does not work on the iPhone at least. I Wish it did work because it would organize my preferences when I return to Cities or when I am reviewing the city ahead of time. When you select the heart you are not able to select a previously created a wish list it shows blank and when you type in the city again for the wish list it tells you youve already created this wish list and wont let you add. Finally, it would be nice to have a filter for private and dorms. Adding onto recommendations would be nice to have an "One touch "sign in for Apple mobile devices , Apple Pay thumbprint payment option. They do have a PayPal payment option which is nice because you dont have to pay an international credit card payment charge, however half the time the PayPal charge does not work, please fix.

Used it my entire time in Thailand. This app is AMAZING!

The app is super inefficient. It has a tendency to push your reservation to next calendar day!! You have to double check the dates every step literally. Reviews are biased as well. Id suggest booking.com

As promised, my review has completely changed as the app now works!! I contacted customer service on the app, and after providing a screenshot of the error page I was receiving, Hostelworld fixed the app. Customer service replied after 1 day. The app displays the weather, things nearby to the hostel to do, all the information needed in regards to the hostel (phone number, address, amount due at arrival). Fantastic!!!! This is going to make travelling so much easier. I suggest contacting Hostelworld via email if you are having problems with the app.

Its the year 2016 and I cant share my wish list and I cant share the link via a link-copy function!

The interface is pretty as much as it does what you want it to. This app is exactly what one would expect. My use wasnt very complicated so far but Im very satisfied. Good job guys!

So slow and laggy and doesnt remember settings.

This user friendly app is a must have if you are traveling. Its as simple as that.

This app will single-handedly get you around the world in rockstar yet low-budget fashion. A total must!
